Jeff Gilsdorf, M.D., Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine specialist with Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute (MMI) of Frederick spoke to Hood College Coaching and Sports Medicine Staff on Thursday August 16th, 2007. His presentation; Minimizing Medical Risk for the Athlete, covered a variety of topics that included; Lightening Strikes, Heat Illness and Concussions.
Dr. Gilsdorf was one of several speakers invited by Melanie Adams, ATC, CSCS, Hood College Coordinator of Sports Medicine, to address recognition, management and treatment of sports injuries and risks. Dr. Gilsdorf is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and is Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine with MMI.
Hood College Athletics fields nineteen intercollegiate sports teams and two club sports teams during Fall, Winter and Spring seasons.
