Mid Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute, Team Physicians for the Frederick Keys Hosts "Kids Night At The Ballpark"

July 26, 2007

Mid Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute, a group of eleven physicians with diverse specialties in all areas of Orthopaedic Surgery and other conditions related to the bones, muscles, and joints are back to host another special evening for area children. "Kids Night At The Ballpark" will be held at the Harry Grove Stadium, home to the Frederick Keys, on July 26, 2007.

Dr. Jeffery Gilsdorf, Dr. James Steinberg, Dr. Mark Chilton, Dr. Frank Nisenfeld, and Dr. Kristen Nesbitt, board certified Orthopaedic surgeons, have severed as the Team Physicians for the Frederick Keys for Several years. "We really enjoy evaluating and treating athletes, whether they are the Frederick Keys players who perform at the highest level, as professional athletes, local high school players, or even the weekend warriors" says Dr. Gilsdorf, one of the orthopaedics surgeons in the group who specializes in Sports Medicine.

The physicians decided to put together a "Kids Night" with the Frederick Keys to help send a message to our local parents and children that athletics are fun and rewarding. As school is out for the summer, it's a reward to the children for all their hard work in the classroom the last school year and for their continued hard work in the school year to come. It is also a great way for the family to come together for an evening of fun. Dr Steinberg says, "all of our doctors are former jocks and we all love to compete on the field or on the court, but we also want to stress the importance of both academics and family".

Mid Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute also severe as team physicians for several local high school varsity football teams, providing sideline coverage during home games. Dr Mark Chilton expressed the group's community service orientation well by saying "patrolling the sideline during football games will give us an opportunity to help keep the students safe and healthy. Being close to the action allows us to make prompt medical decisions which are sometimes critical in giving the athlete and the coach the best medical advice."

At the game on July 26, 2007, Dr Monica Johnson, Pediatric Physical Therapist, will throw the first pitch. The staff of the Frederick keys plans to recognize all the children in attendance. Together with help from community action groups Big Brother and Big Sister as well as Boys and Girls club, 600 tickets were distributed. In addition, local area pediatrician offices distributed 150 of those tickets.

Mid Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute is comprised of orthopaedic associates of Frederick, Rheumatology associates of Frederick and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Associates of Frederick. The facility is located at 86 Thomas Johnson Court in Frederick, Maryland. Contact Jennifer Evans at 301 694 8311 ext 178 or ext 111 for further information.
